This term has seen students across the school engage in a diverse range of exciting Food and Textile projects, combining creativity, practical skills, and real-world learning.

Our Senior Hospitality students wrapped up their In-house Dining unit by hosting a successful event for the boarding students. The menu showcased their culinary skills and flair for flavour, with standout dishes including a vibrant Spiced Chickpea Salad and a crowd-favourite Butter Chicken Pizza. The event demonstrated their ability to plan, prepare, and present meals in a professional setting.
In Fashion, senior students completed their Collections unit by constructing a pair of pyjamas they designed last term. From sketching concepts to fabric selection and garment construction, this project challenged them to consider comfort, design cohesion, and aesthetic appeal - bringing their creative visions to life.
In Food, Years 9 and 10 students investigated egg farming and its connection to food production. They developed marketing campaigns and advertising media to promote egg-based products, linking consumer behaviour and communication with their chosen egg farming style.
Year 8 students have been exploring fabric dyeing techniques, including tie-dye, dip-dye, and stamping, as part of their Textiles unit. These experimental textiles were then used to create personalised pencil cases, combining function with creative expression.
Meanwhile, Year 7 students completed their Muffin unit, learning to follow recipes,
measure accurately, and evaluate flavour and texture. Their final bakes demonstrated both technical improvement and personal flair.
Years 5 and 6 tackled a unique Popcorn Design Challenge, exploring packaging, flavour combinations, and branding. This hands-on project encouraged innovation and creativity while introducing basic design thinking concepts.
These term projects have provided valuable opportunities for students to develop key skills in design, food technology, and communication - fostering confidence, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment across all year levels.
