Last weekend was spent travelling to visit families in the Rolleston, Springsure and Emerald districts. Deanne Johnston and I covered nearly 900kms on a fantastic weekend meeting with current and prospective families and some RGGS 'Old Girls'. The country hospitality was evident from the outset with the Priddle family hosting us for dinner in their home Friday night. We also had over twenty people in attendance at the morning tea Saturday morning. It has been many years since I have travelled these roads and it was interesting to see the countryside in these areas. Our trip started with a rogue burn-off near Westwood giving us a little scare. The rural fire fighters do a marvelous job and it was tremendous to see these men in action. These regional visits are very enjoyable and we love driving the girls home for the weekend, listening to their playlists booming through the bus. Deanne and I also took a detour to Fairbairn dam as she hadn’t seen the dam before. It has been many years since I have been out there myself and I was shocked at how low the water level was. I have many fond memories of birthday parties, barbeques and skiing out there. We are planning some more visits in Term 4 and we will let you know when and where we are heading once we have locked in those dates. Thank you to all of you who joined us on the weekend making us feel so welcome.
