Confidence and Connection - A Message from Deputy Principal - Students

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of accompanying Brooke and Hannah, our two Head Girls to the Rockhampton District Leadership Induction Ceremony at St Joseph’s Cathedral. Both girls represented Girls Grammar with confidence and pride when introduced in front of the 15 other school Principal’s and student leaders, and while taking their student leadership oath.

Not only did our two Head Girls demonstrate confidence but also connection. During the afternoon tea following the ceremony, student leaders from all 16 schools in the district had the opportunity to mingle and converse with one another. Students established new connections and built on existing ones with the many school leaders who were present.

Another celebration of confidence and connection that occurred on the same day involved our year 6 girls. Last Thursday they also represented Girls Grammar at the GRIP student leadership conference and similar to the induction ceremony, there were many other schools represented. Feedback from other schools who attended the primary leadership conference was that our year 6 girls led the practical activities with enthusiasm, involved themselves in all the activities and had a lot of fun. What wonderful role models!

I would like to finish this week with a message around duty of care and safety. School ends at 3:00pm each day and our duty of care finishes at 3:30pm. If girls are unable to be picked up by 3:30pm they have the option of attending the library until 4:00pm or sitting outside reception until this time. At 4:00pm there are no administration staff left in reception to provide a duty of care for any students. Please ensure your daughter is picked up by 4:00pm each day. If this isn’t possible, please make alternative arrangements.
