Week 7 Wrap Up!

Week 7 started with the Year 11’s taking their rightful place upon McKeague Deck; the right of passage saved for our Senior Leaders, quickly followed by the Prefects first Prefect Meeting in the Boardroom. The remainder of the school were heads down in exam preparation and final submission of assessment for the school year.

Tuesday evening, we welcomed our PNGAus partnership delegation back from their workshops in Melbourne and welcomed staff and students form our partner school, St Mary’s Asitavi. Our visitors will be with us for the next week and will immerse themselves in school and boarding life.

Wednesday’s assembly started with a smoking ceremony and traditional welcome to country by Wade Mann, a representative of the Darumbal community, to formally welcome our PNGAus partnership delegates from PNG. Once inside, we were treated to some traditional Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal dances. The Year 11’s entertained the assembly with their all in, glamour school party theme reveal; ‘Hollywood’.

Thursday, the Primary school was treated to a RACQ road safety demonstration. The Stockland – Queensland Cancer Council Christmas Parade was an opportunity for our girls to take the streets and show the wider community how good it is to be a Girls Grammar Girl.

As we finalise assessment and write reports the light at the end of the Term 4 tunnel is our legendary school party. I look forward to celebrating the end of the school year with you all in your best Hollywood costume.
